A handful of companies have gone so far as to ban outright the practice of driving while talking on the phone for their employees. AMEC, the giant engineering firm with offices in Edmonton, outlawed the use of cellphones by staff while driving a year ago. The company reports no loss of productivity and, what's more, many employees said they so appreciated the dangers of using cellphones on the road that they gave up using cellphones while driving in their personal lives too.
